Session Information
The Portrait Session
My goal for your session is for everyone to have fun! I encourage a relaxed atmosphere and love connecting with children’s unique personalities. As a parent I know the feeling of wanting to capture every precious moment of my children's life—to a fault! I strive to find the beauty and true emotion in your photos as your children play. When possible, I prefer to shoot in the "golden hour" about an hour or two before sunset or shortly after sunrise in order to capture the most beautiful light. That glow from the sun (even on a cloudy day) will add a touch of magic to your photos.
All my portrait sessions are personalized. Once you have decided to book your session, we will have a phone consultation to discuss ideas and your vision.
Newborn sessions are best done in the first 7-14 days while babies are sleeping the most. Older babies tend to be awake more making it difficult to capture those sweet newborn poses and generally the session takes much longer, making it not as ideal, though certainly still possible.
Location
Your session can take place at any park in NYC, Central Park being my favorite for its variety. I am happy to customize your location to one that is special for your family. I also sessions in the privacy of your own home and offer classic or stylized studio shoots in my home on the UES as well.
My Style
I like to think of photography as art, as if each portrait were a painting standing on its own. The beauty and timeless quality that sunlight and color brings to photos creates a magic that I strive to achieve. My goal is to create beauty in the moments captured that you will cherish forever.
Clothing
Clothing is an integral part of a portrait. I encourage you to find things that are classic, timeless and that best reflect your style and the environment of the shoot. Neutrals are always great as well as pops of color. Textures, layers, simple patterns and accessories also add interest to the photos. Families look best wearing complimentary colors, but do not have to be too “matchy”. With young children, I encourage you to to bring a favorite stuffed animal or toy to help capture your child’s personality.
Editing
Once your photoshoot is over I carefully choose all the best photos based on a variety of things, like facial expressions, posing, background, sharpness, lighting etc. I will then partially those images and place them in a private online gallery where they will be presented to you for viewing. There you will be able to choose your favorite images for me to edit to complete your package.
Editing is one of my favorite things to do. Each photo goes into Lightroom and/or Photoshop where I digitally “paint” and enhance it to turn it into a work of art.
As with most photographers, no un-edited or raw photos will be released for download as they are merely a work in progress. After everything has been edited, the images will be placed in your private online gallery where you will be able to view, download, share and order prints or additional printed products.
